It was at that moment that I knew I had completely lost my mind
I started spiraling out of control and losing focus
I was rephrasing things that had never happened and telling myself they were memories
I sat wide awake in a rough material-lined chair as I started thinking
I thought about my first heartbreak
I have never been in a relationship
I started thinking about the first time I drove a car
I had never been behind the wheel ever
I thought about meeting my first friend in high school
I sat alone in the dark bathroom stall, hopeless every day at school because I had no friends
In the blink of an eye, I had noticed that my high school years were up and left me without saying goodbye
What normal teenagers did I never do
Was it being scared?
Was it about not feeling like I fit into any of the stereotypical stereotypes the books I read and the movies I watched were illustrating?
I lay awake for hours thinking about the mesh of reality and this “normal” high school experience I had made up in my mind, not knowing what the actual truth was
