To grow a flower, you need to care for it.
Sure, you could simply place it in a pot and water it,
Place it near a window and let nature take its course.
Allow the flower to grow and bloom all on its own.
But sometimes the plant never sprouts.
Its petals never bloom.
The sun’s expectations become too heavy to bear
Causing the flower to shrivel inward
Despite all your best efforts, or what you think is right
It isn’t enough.
Sometimes the flower needs more attention than you assumed
Needing a little push in the right direction.
Checking in on the flower to ensure the roots are taking hold
Testing the pH of the soil to make sure it isn’t too dry or wet.
But care can be a delicate balance–
Roots can drown just as easily as they thirst.
Too much sun can burn out the bud
But even after the flower sprouts its beautiful petals, the care is far from over.
Even if things seem fine at a glance, continue to check.
Continue to water, continue to check the pH levels.
Only then will your flower be healthy.
Even then, continue to care for it.
