Fall 2026 Contest: Monsters

Here is Springfire Magazine’s first contest, and the theme of this contest is Monsters. We have some exciting prizes thanks to our sponsor:

1st Place: $50 Gift Card
2nd Place: $20 Gift Card
3rd Place: $10 Gift Card

But before we get to all of that, we must decide this: what is a monster? For this contest, we will use Mr. Nannini’s definition of a monster, which is a creature that is unnaturally created. So, Hannibal Lecter and the shark from Jaws are not monsters, but Frankenstein’s creature, Dracula, the Wolf Man, and the Hulk are all monsters.

We are looking for all sorts of innovative pieces from a variety of genres. Here are some ideas, but do not limit yourself to this list:

  • A story about a monster
  • A poem about a monster
  • A literary analysis of a monster story
  • A historical report on the origins of a monster
  • A scientific examination on the validity of a monster
  • An art piece depicting a monster
  • A musical piece inspired by a monster
  • etc. etc. etc.
